It depends why the testicle was removed.Testicles may not descend into the scrotum properly and need to be removed if they cannot be brought down. They may also twist (this is called torsion) or become infected. Torsion is very painful and the testicle needs to be quickly untwisted or, if surgery is delayed, it may need to be removed. If your husband’s one remaining testicle is normal, and there was no infection or damage at the time of surgery, his sperm count should be fine. One testicle is certainly enough for normal fertility.
