If the testicles are diseased and cannot make sperm, the pituitary gland tries to stimulate them by producing lots of the hormone FSH.
A normal FSH indicates functioning testicles. If there are no sperm in the ejaculate and the FSH is normal this usually indicates a blockage. You need to talk to the urologist to find out exactly what he or she has found. Occasionally, ejaculation occurs backwards into the bladder. This can be tested for by examining the urine after orgasm.
Assuming that your husband’s testicles are indeed producing sperm, then treatment will be available. There are a number of ways of extracting sperm from the testis or epididymis so that they can be used in an IVF/ICSI treatment cycle
