Pain at the time of ovulation is not unusual. It is usually given the German title of ‘Mittelschmerz’. It is more commonly right-sided than left, and usually at the front rather than in your back. If ovulation pain goes on for longer than 48 hours or if it becomes more severe, it raises the possibility that something else might be the cause.
