I don’t know why you think buying the drugs yourselves would be any cheaper. Even if your health authority will not allow you to have an NHS prescription, private prescriptions should not differ in their cost. There are some units, including the one I work at, which buy their own drugs and pass them on directly to the patients but I don’t think this would make a vast difference in cost. Ask your unit.
