Asherman’s syndrome is a very rare condition in which there is loss of periods and infertility as a result of over-vigorous curettage (D&C) following major haemorrhage in pregnancy. The surgery has removed some of the lining of the womb and adhesions develop within the womb which may obliterate the cavity of the womb and cause infertility.
This condition is diagnosed by hysteroscopy (viewing of the cavity of the womb), transvaginal ultrasound (scan via the vagina), or hysterogram (where a dye is injected to show up the cavity of the womb). The only thing you would notice would be the lack of periods. Your hormones would be totally normal and you would not be ill in any other way. However, if this severe form of Asherman’s syndrome is proven, there is no chance of pregnancy.
